The recent “cold snap” here in Florida is welcomed but with the cooler weather many of my patients with skin conditions such as eczema, xerosis (dry skin), or psoriasis can flare. With less humidity in the air our skin can become dry more easily. Simple tips to do during the cooler months for skin health is listed below.
- Avoid “HOT” showers or baths, only use luke warm water when bathing
- Use gentle soaps and cleansers such as Dove Unscented, Vanicream, Cerave, or Cetaphil
- Moisturize daily with a gentle moisturizing CREAM, my favorites are Cerave or Vanicream
Not only do these tips help in our “winter” months but also throughout the year to help our skin remain hydrated.
A patient should always seek medical attention if a skin condition is chronic or not resolving.
